Gujarat Titans, the first IPL team to unveil a logo in Metaverse, has announced the creation of a virtual space called 'The Titans Dugout.'

Gujarat Titans, an Indian Premier League (IPL) team, revealed on Saturday that they have built The Titans Dugout, a virtual place in the Metaverse.

This will be a place where fans can interact with one other throughout the Indian Premier League's forthcoming season. Gujarat Titans will be the first sports team in India to provide a dedicated virtual area for its global community of fans and players, adding to a lengthy series of "firsts."

Gujarat Titans' introduction into the virtual universe will be celebrated by the presentation of their team logo in The Titans Dugout, which will debut in the 15th season of the IPL.

The logo was unveiled by head coach Ashish Nehra, captain Hardik Pandya, and batter Shubman Gill, who interacted for the first time in the Metaverse's The Titans Dugout. Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants are the two new teams in the IPL (LSG).

The official team logo is based on the shape of a 'Kite' that flies high into the sky, signifying the team's desire to reach new heights of limitless potential. The logo highlights Gujarat's rich cultural tradition and legacy, on which the team's foundation is built, since kite-flying is a vital element of the state's cultural heritage with festivals like the Uttarayan festival.

The emblem also includes a 'bolt of lightning,' which represents the enormous energy and immense strength to illuminate even the darkest of skies in a split second, and will represent the team's will to overcome adversity.

Gujarat Titans, who are owned by CVC Capitals, have assembled a young and energetic squad that includes players such as Rashid Khan, Jason Roy, David Miller, Matthew Wade, Mohammed Shami, Rahul Tewatia, Locke Ferguson, and Alzarri Joseph, among others, who were acquired during the IPL Mega Auction last week.

Starting with its debut in the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League in 2022, the official team logo echoes the fundamental belief GT instils: 'We stop at nothing.'

Spatial.io is a'metaverse for events,' with practical 3D locations that can be used for exhibitions or brand digital community experiences, and may even be minted as non-fungible tokens (NFTs) if desired. Fans can use avatars to engage with the space, which they can access using a mobile app or a virtual reality (VR) gear.

Last year, the Utah Jazz of the National Basketball Association (NBA) introduced a virtual locker room and NFT gallery experience on Spatial.io, which included a meet and greet with club owner Ryan Smith.

Following an auction performed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) late last year, the Ahmedabad Titans are one of two new expansion teams admitted to the IPL for the 2022 season, joining the Lucknow Super Giants.

The Ahmedabad franchise was purchased for US$736 million by venture capital firm CVC, while the Lucknow franchise was purchased for US$964 million by India-based conglomerate RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group (RPSG Group).

The Titans' Dugout is designed to be a location where fans can interact with one of the newest teams in Indian sport during the franchise's initial season and beyond.

The McLaren Formula One team, which presented their car for the 2022 season in the Roblox video game platform, is one of several big sports teams that have used the metaverse to make major announcements or launches.
